When you first start out playing the guitar, it can be a bit difficult learning the root notes of your barr chords and where they fall on the neck. Even if you sit down and try to memorize the different notes on each string, when you start to play the chord, the root note often gets put in background while you are trying to prevent string buzz and make the chord sound good. Hence, the “dot song” a clever way to practice your barr chords and learn the notes at the same time.
